2013....So Far

Starting over.....again.  I really want to remember what we did in our lives 50 years down the road, so this is a journal.  I am going to try and update it at least once a month with the excitements of that month's doings.  So to catch up on 2013....

JANUARY--
Craig started his last semester of his undergraduate degree in math at UVU.  He enjoyed the first week in January finishing his Christmas break.  Nicole continued to teach 3rd grade at Valley View Elementary in Pleasant Grove.  Her car also had some issues and Craig did some driving her to work and picking her up this month.  We also completed our taxes ALL BY OURSELVES! It was easy to do but still....it can be done! :-)

FEBRUARY--
It was a busy month of new additions to family.  We had two new nephews born into our extended family this month! Madden was born to Shea and Nadine (really quickly might I add- like 7 minutes after they got to the hospital fast) on February 3rd (superbowl Sunday), and Daxton to Colton and Megan on February 18th.  We were getting to the part of life we thought Craig would graduate and get a job and I would keep working and we could maybe buy a house so we started looking at houses...very dreamily I know... but still looked.  That plan changed, little did we know!

MARCH--
March was a big decision month for us!  Craig was accepted into Ball State University's Actuarial Science Graduate program.  He was also offered an assistant-ship which meant that school was completely paid for and then he would also get paid to teach a class.  AWESOME!!! So we had to decide if we were going or if Craig should just apply for jobs. I also took a big test you have to take within your first 3 years of teaching to get a level 2 license in the state of Utah.

APRIL--
We decided to go to Ball State, the opportunity was to good to turn down.  The networking at the university is so so good and that is what Craig needed to be successful!  I enjoyed a week off work for Spring Break, and I also told my boss/coworkers I would not be coming back to Valley View the next year.  I was super sad but it was an exciting offer for us! Oh, also one more thing... Craig graduated from UVU!!!!!! We had a fun filled day with family and food! Also, we enjoyed general conference.  Always a good month because of this!

MAY--
We started the beggining process of moving.  We started collecting boxes and began boxing up small things that we would not be needing to help ease the burden later on because we had a fun busy summer of traveling ahead of us.  I made it through the crazy month of May at school (one of the most exhausting months in a school teachers life!) through end of year testing for my little students, and the last day of school, so sad!  School ended on Thursday, and then I had to be all moved out of my room that same day because we were leaving on a trip Saturday morning and I had so much to do at home before we could go!

JUNE--
We started the summer out right leaving June 1st to San Diego, California for a week!!! Such a fun fun trip.  It was definately hard to come home from.  We flew out Saturday morning/early afternoon, and landed in San Diego just in time to check into our hotel room and watch the Miami Heat Finals game.  Craig is a huge fan!!!!!  In this trip we also went to San Diego Zoo, Sea World, an Angels baseball game, tons of beaches and piers and Hodads (a must eat in San Diego). Also, while we were there my parents opened their mission call and were called to serve in Houston, Texas!!! They will be doing family history and are "book scanning specialist" ha ha.  We flew home Saturday afternoon.  It was a quick turn around and then I was back at the airport Sunday night flying to Washington to visit my siblings Nate and Cherise (and Lucas and Carter) and Shea and Nadine (and Makena and Madden).  It was a very nice relaxing vacation!  I then spent a week babysitting for a former coworker while she was at girls camp.  Another fun filled week! And just like that, June was over and we had not packed very much! Only a month before our move. OH and my parents sold their house so I spent the last week helping clean the house! WOW that was a busy month! It was a very sad day to see that house go....

JULY--
We spent a week in Idaho with my whole family (except Kristen who is on a mission in Minnesota)!!! It was so much fun! We rented a cabin for the week and just spent the week doing whatever we wanted!!!!  It was hard at the end of the week because my parents said goodbye to half my sibling for 18 months and we said goodbye to them for who knows how long!  But definatly a fun fun week! So glad we did it! After we got back, we packed liked crazy cause we were down to two weeks before we moved, we sold my car (goodbye Dorie!) and were almost ready to move.  We then went to Montana for a week to stay with Craigs brother and his wife Cody and Summer.  They have a cabin there and it is so pretty!!!  We LOVE going there!  We said goodbye to them till Christmas, not so fun.  We then packed up the moving semi (we rented space and they moved it for us!) and sent it on its way, and we relaxed for a couple of days! We needed it! Then we said goodbye to the rest of our family in Utah, piled ourselves in the car and were on our way.  We stayed at some peoples houses that Craig knew from his mission! AMAZING people! I love them! That made the drive not so long, after all, 1600 miles feels long in a car! We made it to Muncie, Indiana on the 31st of July.

AUGUST--
We unpacked our stuff from the truck....and then spent pretty much two weeks unpacking and familiarizing ourselves with our home for the next two years.  Craig had meetings and I began trying to find a job.  We went and saw Craigs grandma and Aunt that live a couple hours away.  Craig started his first semester of his Masters Degree.  August was over before we knew where it went! Also, I turned 25 this month! WOW I am old! :-)

SEPTEMBER--
We celebrated Craigs 27th birthday!!  I know we are old people now.  I also started substitute teaching.  Craig had a crazy couple of weeks of interviewing for internships, and second interviews with companies.  I was able to go with him to Cinncinati Ohio and Chicago Illinois.  Both companies were good and we are waiting to hear back from them.  Right now, no news is good news.  It also went by way faster then we know what to do.  We blinked and September was gone!

OCTOBER--
This is where we are currently! Craig is still doing well with school and teaching, I am enjoying substitute teaching and we are loving life! Craig will be going to Louisville Kentucky in a couple of weeks and I will be able to go with him.  Also, we watched general conference and had prayers answered in so many ways!  Love that conference stuff!!!! So there we have it! That is our crazy year and it just keeps going faster and faster!  We hope to make some important decisions in the next couple of months! Happy Halloween!
